The politics of outrage

Wow, so where do you even start?

Is it the cold and calculated manner in which Paul Ryan refers to rape as a “method of conception” ? Is it his faux-deference to the “Romney-Ryan ticket,” the idea that his position as second-in-command would not affect policy, at least not to the extremes that his particular idealogy would prefer? Is it the mere fact that in 2012 a bunch of privileged white men are still being allowed to weigh in on what women can do with their bodies? Or sadly, is it the fact that after decades of this kind of misogyny and ignorance we’re too fucking tired to feel the kind of outrage necessary to adequately convey how incredibly horrible and wrong this all is?

Four years ago we were having discussions about who is still worse off in America, minorities or women. Upon reflection is it fair to say that everyone is still being legitimately fucked over by the Paul Ryan’s and Todd Akin’s of the world?

Here comes the change.
